Scott Mann has welcomed the news that the Government will introduce a National Funding Formula for schools in North Cornwall.
Scott and other MPs have been campaigning for the Government to address the issue of funding disparities, which can see one school in a rural area like North Cornwall receiving 50% less funding per pupil than a similar school in an urban area.
MPs have called for this to be re-balanced, especially as rural school face greater challenges to employ teachers while being located in more remote areas.
As well as contributing to debates in the House of Commons, Scott has also asked the Prime Minister to address the issue.
The new formula was announced by the Chancellor George Osborne during today's Autumn Statement.
"I'm glad the Government have decided to introduce this National Funding Formula and have heard our calls for change.
"I've met with many teachers and visited numerous schools in North Cornwall, and funding has been a common issue. Lack of funds mean that schools cannot employ more staff or buy more resources."
The new formula will go out to consultation next year so teachers, parents and the gneal public can give their feedback on proposals before the proper formula is drawn up and implemented.
