Cornish National tick box update

Steve and I met with Chloe Smith after the disappointing recommendations were announced by the Office of National Statistics on a Cornish tick box.

The recommendations did not commit to a dedicated tick box for people who identify as Cornish in the next national census.

Statement on vote of No-Confidence

We are a democratic party and I support and respect the result of the confidence vote.

However, I continue to have serious concerns about several elements of the Draft Withdrawal Agreement.

I was recently contacted by Cornwall NHS Foundation Trust who informed me that they had made the hard decision to temporarily implement night closures of the Minor Injuries Unit at Stratton Hospital.

Delabole School Run update

I was very pleased to see that Councillor Fairman’s motion to review Cornwall Council’s safe walking routes policy was passed with cross-party support. He has worked hard for the people of Delabole and we stand together to try to get this change made.

London to Heathrow flights statement

Great news from Chris Grayling today.

The public service obligation ensuring flights between Newquay and London via Gatwick was going be replaced by flights between Newquay and Heathrow once Heathrow’s third runway was built, but this has been brought forward to Spring 2019.

Davidstow Cheddar

Having visited the Davidstow Cheddar plant on several occasions and met with local residents, I am aware of the smell causing discomfort to people.

I have also written to the Environment Agency and have an ongoing dialogue with them regarding the creamery.

Remembrance Day 2018

One hundred years ago, on this day at 11am, the guns fell silent and the Great War finally came to an end.

Each year on this day we come together to remember not only the Great War, but also the sacrifice of British and Commonwealth troops who have fallen on battlefields since.

Pendennis House visit

It was my pleasure to visit Pendennis House in Wadebridge yesterday and meet the staff and service users and even partake in a music therapy session. 
Pendennis House is an independent service provider with care and support packages tailored to individual needs.

Children in Need 2018

Today my team and I joined B.R.A.G. as they started their 24-hour litter pickup in Bude for Children in Need. They will be out picking up litter until 3 tomorrow afternoon if you would like to lend your support. They have a Facebook donation page below, they are hoping to raise £1,000.
