I finished the Parliamentary recess with a visit to the villages up by the source of the River Tamar. It was good to meet people in Wooley, Whitstone, Yeolmbridge and Treburley and hear their views.
This week I spent a lot of time in Bodmin, and I was very pleased to find a great deal of support for the Chancellor’s recent tax cuts and our strong immigration reforms.
This weekend was Easter, and we reflect on Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection. Despite the poor weather spring is here and it is great to see the flowers coming out and the trees in bloom. I hope everyone in North Cornwall had a very Happy Easter with your friends and family.
Scott Mann has welcomed the news that Cornwall is set to benefit from £9,701,294 of funding to ensure children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and alternative provision (AP) receive an education that meets their needs in high-quality environments for the years to come.
Following a busy week in Parliament where the Government made great progress on our landmark Rwanda Bill, I was back in North Cornwall on Friday meeting constituents in villages including Week St. Mary, Warbstow and Marshgate.
This week the Chancellor delivered what will be the final budget ahead of the General Election. There were several items in the budget which people in North Cornwall asked for, including a freeze on fuel duty and a £500 million extension of the Household Support Fund.
As part of my regular visits around the constituency, I was up in Bude and the surrounding area meeting constituents. A special thanks goes to the New Inn Kilkhampton for sheltering us from the hail over lunch and for the great food and hospitality.
This week I welcomed the Government’s new plans to reform how holiday lets operate as ‘one of the biggest things ever to happen to housing in Cornwall’. I have long argued that there needs to be a rebalancing of the local housing market in constituencies like North Cornwall.
